Climate and the 2020 Election, a panel discussion

This panel discussion is for anyone who cares deeply about climate change and climate justice and wants to know how they can best make a difference in the upcoming election.

Here’s what we’ll discuss:

  • Why is this election so crucially important for slowing climate change and promoting environmental justice?

  • What are the most powerful actions we can take as people who care about climate justice?

  • How can we harness passion around climate issues to mobilize voters?

  • How can we learn about the climate-related policy stances of candidates?

  • How can we encourage voters to vote for climate-friendly candidates and policies?

  • How do we adapt our strategies in the face of a pandemic?

Joining us will be a number of special guests including:

Loraine Lundquist, scientist and clean energy expert, who recently ran for city council so has first-hand experience in running on a climate justice platform and talking to voters about these issues.

Aura Vasquez, a longtime community organizer who also recently ran for city council with a platform including climate justice and its intersections with racial and social justice movements. In particular, she has a lot of experience organizing climate justice movements in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Sarah Jakle, Field Team 6 Outreach director, who has extensive experience mobilizing and inspiring volunteers and voters, and who is a passionate champion of climate justice.
