Did you know we have a special election coming up on November 4th, and there is only ONE QUESTION on the ballot? It’s called Proposition 50.

We need to make sure every Californian knows about it. This is how we fight back against Trump and Texas Republicans’ attempt to rig the 2026 elections through gerrymandering.

How to Vote

We have a full schedule of events to support Prop 50 and defend democracy:

Learn About Prop 50

California’s Prop 50 is a bold, time-sensitive response to a national redistricting crisis and LA Forward is all in. We urge a YES vote to defend fair representation and push back against partisan power grabs happening across the country.

Here’s what Prop 50 does:

  • It temporarily suspends California’s independent redistricting commission and allows the Legislature to redraw congressional district maps through 2030.

  • Why? Because Republican-led states like Texas have already redrawn their maps mid-decade to gain seats at the urging of President Trump.

  • If California doesn’t respond, we risk losing ground in Congress for the next three election cycles.

  • This isn’t about rigging, it’s about restoring balance. The new maps would shift up to five GOP-held seats into Democratic-leaning districts.

What it means:

That means more representatives who reflect California’s values: immigration justice, climate justice, reproductive freedom, racial equity, and economic dignity.

We know this move breaks from California’s tradition of independent redistricting. But extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. Prop 50 includes a sunset clause: the independent Citizens Redistricting Commission resumes control in 2031. This is a temporary adjustment, not a permanent overhaul.

Let’s be clear: Prop 50 is a strategic counterpunch. It’s about defending democracy, not dismantling it. The measure also affirms California’s support for nonpartisan redistricting commissions nationwide while protecting our state from being outmaneuvered by partisan gerrymandering elsewhere.

Vote YES on Prop 50. Let’s stand up for fair maps, representative democracy, and California’s voice in Congress.
