Learning from Vienna's Social Housing System - Reflections from a Recent Study Trip

Join us for a panel discussion with leaders from across LA County who visited Vienna last month to learn about their remarkable social housing system, where more than 50% of the population lives in housing owned by the city, nonprofits, or cooperatives. As a result, rents are incredibly low for a major city and homelessness is barely existent. Vienna has its own share of challenges and inequities for sure, but there’s much to learn from how their housing system works.

Featured guests include:

  • Saba Mwine, Managing Director at Homelessness Policy Research Institute

  • Dr. Andrea Garcia, Physician, LA County DMH/American Indian Counseling Center & Stanton Fellow (Durfee Foundation)

  • Molly Rysman, Former Housing Deputy for County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl & former Chief Program Officer, LAHSA

  • David Levitus, Executive Director of LA Forward Institute
